RISE Booksellers Exchange | Spain to Ireland | 2026

The RISE Booksellers Exchange 2026 welcomed a visiting bookseller from Spain to Roe River Books for a five day professional exchange programme. The visit provided an opportunity to experience first hand how an independent bookshop operates in Ireland, from daily bookselling and event organisation to relationships with readers, authors and the wider community.

Throughout the week, the exchange explored Irish literature, local history, community initiatives and the cultural role that independent bookshops play in towns such as Dundalk. The programme also offered opportunities to meet local authors, discover Irish publishing and gain insight into the unique connection between Roe River Books and the community it serves.

The exchange celebrated the sharing of knowledge, ideas and experiences between booksellers from different countries while strengthening international connections within the independent book trade.
